Terms of Service — Lyunotes

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Lyunotes (PC and iOS, including the optional Glyph license unlock), provided by lyunotech LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). By downloading, installing, or using Lyunotes, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

The service

Lyunotes is a note-taking app that lets you choose, notebook by notebook, whether to turn on zero-knowledge encryption. Lyunotes for PC requires no account and connects to no server of ours. Lyunotes for iOS optionally uses an account, managed through Firebase, solely to operate the Glyph license unlock described below. Third-party storage services (“Bring Your Own Cloud”)

Lyunotes can optionally connect to a cloud storage service of your own choosing (“third-party storage service”) to store and sync your notebooks. You select and configure this connection yourself; we do not operate, control, or have any ability to access the third-party storage service you use.

Because the third-party storage service is not operated by us, we are not responsible for its availability, performance, changes to its terms or features, discontinuation, or any loss, corruption, or delay of your data arising from your use of it. Your use of any third-party storage service is subject to that service’s own terms, and you accept the risks of using it at your own discretion.

We recommend keeping independent backups of anything important, using the app’s export feature or any other method you prefer.

Your content

You retain all rights to the notes, files, and other content you create in Lyunotes (“your content”). We do not claim any ownership over it. Because encrypted notebooks are encrypted on your device with a key only you hold, we have no ability to access, view, or recover your content on your behalf — if you lose your encryption key, we cannot help you decrypt it. You are solely responsible for keeping your key and your content safe.

Glyph license (iOS)

Glyph is an optional, one-time purchase that unlocks certain features on Lyunotes for iOS across up to a limited number of devices tied to your account, as described at the time of purchase. Glyph is not a subscription and does not auto-renew. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and Apple’s own terms and refund policies apply to the transaction itself.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Lyunotes to store or distribute content that is unlawful, to attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the app or the Glyph license system, or to attempt to circumvent the device limits or purchase verification associated with Glyph.

Intellectual property

Lyunotes, including its design, code, and branding, is the property of lyunotech LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or branding beyond what is necessary to use the app as intended.

Disclaimer of warranties

Lyunotes is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times or in all locations.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, lyunotech LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss, corruption, or alteration of data — including data loss arising from your use of a third-party storage service — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Lyunotes.

Termination

You may stop using Lyunotes at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate access to the Glyph license system for accounts that violate these Terms, including attempts to circumvent device limits or purchase verification. Termination of the Glyph license system does not affect your ability to use Lyunotes locally or your control over content stored on your own device or in your own cloud storage.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Lyunotes after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of Lyunotes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts having jurisdiction over our registered address in Japan.
