Moving your notes

Move your notes to Lyunotes

From Evernote, UpNote, OneNote or plain files, in and out.

What you can bring in

What it does

Bring your notes in from Evernote, UpNote, OneNote or any Markdown, HTML or plain-text files, and take them out again whenever you want.

Evernote. Export your notebooks from Evernote as .enex files, then import them into Lyunotes. On the desktop you can point Lyunotes at the whole folder of exports at once. Notebooks, tags and attachments come with it, and duplicates can be skipped.

UpNote. Export your notes from UpNote to a folder, then import that folder on the desktop.

OneNote. Export your notes with OneNoteMdExporter to a folder, then import that folder on the desktop.

Markdown, HTML and plain text. Import individual files, on iPhone or on the desktop. You get a preview first, you can exclude anything you don't want, and you choose the destination notebook and theme.

On iPhone, notes come in one file at a time for now, without attachments. Importing a whole folder is desktop only.

The details of each import option are in the Guide.

After you import

What to do next

  1. Open a few imported notes and check they look the way you expect.
  2. Turn on encryption for the notebooks you want sealed. Open a notebook's settings, turn on encryption and choose a password. The app shows you a recovery key once: keep it somewhere safe. See Your password and recovery key.
  3. Delete the export files you no longer need. They are ordinary files, not encrypted.

Your notes can leave too: right-click an unlocked notebook to export every note as Markdown.

Before you decide

What to know

Lyunotes keeps your notes on your device and in your own cloud (currently Dropbox, OneDrive and iCloud), with optional per-notebook encryption that we can't undo for you. It's free on Windows, and on iPhone cloud sync is part of Glyph, a one-time purchase. Read Check it yourself and What Lyunotes doesn't do first, and Common questions if you have more.
